Having worked closely with SME founders and managers for nearly 10 years, I have seen first-hand many of the common challenges that most businesses face across the various stages of the growth cycle, from capital / funding, to establishing effective growth strategies, to struggling to find the "right" people.
I started my career in commercial banking, working with owner-operators and executive teams to gain an in depth understanding of their business models, cashflow cycles and financial performance, and ultimately help them to overcome one of the biggest challenges for SMEs - capital. I then worked with a business consultancy focused on helping kiwi businesses build and execute effective export strategies, allowing them to realise their ambition of taking on the world, and the numerous pitfalls that come with this.
What I love about the Sprout model is that it allows SMEs to access vital expertise in another hugely challenging area that is often not a strength of founders - people & culture. For scaling businesses, your people can make or break you, which is why its so important (and difficult) to get right.
We help business owners create alignment within their teams around where the business is heading and why it exists, so that everyone is going in the same direction. We also help businesses to find people with the right capabilities to match their ambition, and this is something that is hugely motivating and fulfilling for me.
