This is a unique opportunity to be coached and led by a H&S leader, where together you will design, develop and implement health, safety, environmental and quality systems for a mid-sized, commercial construction business.  If you have strengths in process and systems, enjoy connecting with and influencing people, and like to challenge yourself through creating systems (not just maintaining), then this is the role for you.

About the company:
Sansom are industry leaders in the specialty construction industry, with a team of 150 skilled people working across projects from waterproofing the City Rail Link tunnels to carrying out specialist concrete repairs on commercial buildings.

They have a fantastic, diverse team that has built a lot of camaraderie and enjoys the culture that is Sansom. Whether it is the run club, fishing trips, fundraisers, family fun days or just office banter, there is a great team who like to work hard, yet play too. And with up to 60 sites across Auckland each day, there is plenty of challenge, variety and opportunity to get out and about. 

About the role:
Having recently appointed a H&S leader and with numerous ISO accreditations to maintain, Sansom are on a mission to keep improving. They are making health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) systems an integral part of the way the business operates - after all, good HSEQ practices are good business practices.  As such, your role will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the strategic development, implementation, and continual improvement of the Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) management systems
  • Creating and delivering training programs
  • Conducting site inspections and audits
  • Managing risk assessments
  • Investigating incidents
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
  • Playing a critical part in promoting a proactive health, safety, environmental  and quality culture, where you will build rapport and trust with the on-site teams, subcontractors, and clients.
About you:
First and foremost we are looking for your training and H&S experience. This will include:
  • 3 - 5 years experience in either training or health and safety.
  • Process driven with an eye for detail
  • Experience in delivery training plans
  • Strong relationship management - you will be able to relate to a diverse workforce

This is a full time role, offering 40 - 45 hours per week, between the hours of 8am and 5pm. It is based in Grafton, and the salary/package is approximately $85 to $95k.
